Colin James arrives “In the Spotlight” this month.

Many of you are familiar with Colin as the Windsor Essex County Senior Games Winter Games Co-ordinator (2017-present) and as a participant in both volleyball and tennis circles at the grass-roots level.

Trust me, in the time it took to type that sentence, Colin has most likely accomplished three different tasks. This fella “Gets It Done”!!

Colin is a Windsor native. After high school he first attended Trent University, studying Canadian Literature; he furthered his studies in Canadian Lit at the University of Manitoba. Finally, he received both a Music Degree and his B. Ed. at the University of Windsor.

Before settling in as a Music Teacher at various Elementary Schools throughout Windsor, Colin spent time as a Travel Agent and as an employee of A.R.C. Industries.

For many years Colin taught both vocal and Instrumental Music to hundreds of Windsor students, culminating in his production of Annual Musicals performed by his students.

Speaking of music, Colin is an accomplished tenor who sings with the U of W Chorale. He counts himself fortunate to have performed twice at New York’s famed Carnegie Hall.

Somehow, Colin also finds the time to belong to a motorcycle enthusiast’s group called The Essex Kent Spyder Riders. He has participated in many “runs” throughout Canada and the US on his three-wheeled motorcycle.

Colin is a member of the Life After Fifty Board of Directors, as well as being a Member Representative.

He can be found most times at LAF being a Fitness Instructor, Member Liaison, Craft Instructor – heck, he even makes up nifty names for the sandwiches on the lunch menu!

When discussing his roles with both WECSG and LAF, Colin says that his time with these organizations has shown him just how important it is for Seniors to stay active – both physically and mentally. He stresses how important it is that Seniors have these avenues to experience Socialization as opposed to Isolation and he “walks The Walk” by organizing and running all the various programs that keep Windsor’s Seniors active and happy.

Colin is a great example of Paying it Forward. He is invested in the health and well-being of Seniors in our Community and as such, is our choice this November to be “In the Spotlight”
